Catawba Catfish Club
Catfish Tournament Trail
Latest News-The Catawba Catfish Club is pleased to announce that beginning in September at our Lake Wylie Tournament we will be changing the months in which our tournaments are held.We will now be running tournaments from September-May instead of the past January-September.We are eliminating the months of June,July and August due to many reasons. Some of these reasons are:Vacations,High water temps making fish harder to keep alive, too much boat traffic on area lakes, too many boating accidents on area lakes at night,Anglers wishes to have mostly daytime tournaments. So beginning at our September Lake Wylie event it will be the last Tounament of this season and the first of next seasons combined into one to keep the schedule flowing. We will be introducing a new points system at this event for next season as well so any Anglers that want to compete for the points title will need to make plans on being in attendance at this one.Points will be given at this seasons format and also next seasons. There also will be one rule change for next season. We are going back to a 12 rod limit per boat instead of the 8 we have in place right now.We Thank You for being understanding of these changes and we expect these changes to only help the Club grow and continue to be the Top drawing Catfish Tournament Series in the Carolinas. We will be releasing the new schedule by August 14th,2010 so you can plan your schedule for next season. Thanks and see ya on the water soon,Team Green
Thanks for stopping in and Checking our site.
The Catawba Catfish Club was started in 2006.We have 9 Tournaments a year, one each month usually on the last wekend of the month from January to September.
Catch,Weigh and Release is now mandatory at all of our Tournaments. All fish must be weighed in alive{NO EXCEPTIONS}.
Our goal is to teach and share info as a group and educate less experienced anglers on techniques, conservation and the keeping of trophy Catfish alive for weigh in and then be returned to the water alive,Alot of our Anglers fish several different Tournament Series throughout the year where CPR is mandatory and the recent increase in turnouts to some of these events are a direct result of our Club taking the time to educate and promote Trophy Catfishing on an introductory level, hopefully turnouts will continue to increase as a result of this practice.
The Catawba Catfish Club now holds Tournaments on the Catawba River Chain of Lakes including Lake Wateree,Lake Wylie and Fishing Creek Resivoir and one event each year at Lake Monticello[non Catawba Chain],We may in the future add another Lake or two to the mix, some of the Lakes being considered are Mt. Island Lake,Stumpy Pond{both Catawba River Basin Lakes} and Lake Murray. We will kep you updated accordingly to any and all changes to rules and schedules and locations.
We are now officially recognized by Cabelas as a Qualifying Tournament Series for the Cabelas King Kat Classic,The Premier Catfish Tournament in the United States. The Top 2 finishing Teams at each Tournament will be one step closer to being qualified to fish the Classic. We are proud to be affiliated with them and look forward to working with them for years to come.
